The SDM (Sufficiency and Data Minimization) Project, with funding from the Brussels Capital Region, is a pioneering project that addresses the challenges posed by the exponential growth of digital information. To achieve a sustainable digitization of society, data management must go beyond efficiency improvements and holistically address the negative sustainability impact of data storage, transmission and processing. This is what we are trying to achieve within the SDM project.
VUB BUDA is taking a coordinating role in this project.
Our objectives:
- Research sustainable data management strategies to reduce environmental and social impact.
- Improve privacy and security using advanced technologies such as Zero-Knowledge Proofs and trusted data processing.
- Demonstrate real-world applications in identity management and business analytics.
SDM research will enable innovations in key technology areas
- Trusted Computing: Secure data processing platforms that ensure end-to-end protection.
- Zero-Knowledge Proofs: Revolutionary techniques that prove the validity of data without revealing sensitive information.
- AI-driven insights: Pattern recognition methods that minimize data transfer while optimizing results.
